Things They Don’t Tell You When You Begin Your Wig Journey

If you have been considering or need to incorporate a Lace Wig into your daily beauty routine, you have come to the right place! Not only do we have a team of experts here at Embrace Your Lace, but we are here to share some wig wearing insight, especially for beginners who are looking to join the Lace Wig community.  Wearing Lace Wigs is only intimidating because it's not familiar.  No need to see your Lace Wig as something intimidating; consider us the mother you never had who put on her Lace Wig on instead of her makeup in the mirror!

Experimentation Is Part Of The Ride

Think about your Lace Wig as something similar to finding the right style that suits you. We recommend booking a free consultation to help reduce the amount of trial and error.   If you get a Lace Wig without a virtual consultation, just make sure you know your measurements

You have to take your face dimensions into consideration when you buy a new Lace Wig, especially if you are going for a new style.  You want to buy wigs that are right for you head circumference and face shape.  You can't really base a wig on a picture that you see on a model. Much like how one size fits all look different on everyone, a 12-inch wig will look different on each face type. Check out our FAQ to help you with your your decision.

Embrace a new look!

Next, and this is key, you will look completely different, and trust me when I say that is not necessarily a bad thing. When we go to the hair salon and decide to dye our hair a new colour, we won’t look the same!  When you put on your new Lace Wig, you first reaction will be to think that you have too much hair.  But in reality, you are probably not use to seeing yourself with average hair density

It is important to remember the reasons why you wanted to wear wigs.  This could be personal choice, thinning hair or medical conditions.  Take your time to get use to the wig.  Rather than think, I look different, try to ask yourself, what do I want to look like? There are some tricks that you can do to see your wig with its full potential to see if it suits you and is as follows:

  • Try to add volume by fluffing it up or try straightening it
  • You need to make sure to shake the wig to loosen the hair
  • Make sure to adjust the zig-zag part of the wig to help make it look more realistic

It is also best to put on your wig, casual make-up, and everyday outfit to see if it suits your style.  You can contact us with any questions or concerns.

The General Public Won’t Care

Now, you may be thinking about what others think when making wigs a regular thing, but I am here to let you know that most people will not care. Of course, it is normal to feel self-conscious, but we live in a world where celebrities change their hair every other week; trust me, none of that is natural. However, when you suffer from hair loss, it may take more of a personal toll because you are grieving the loss of something that has been a part of you. Rather than thinking you will be met with pity or sadness, take a moment to check if you may be projecting your personal feelings onto others about your hair. Everyone will be happy to see you with your new, gorgeous look!

Play With Your Look

There will be a lot of temptation to find a wig similar to your natural hair in terms of type and colour; however, it is essential not to limit yourself to the wig community. You will eventually have a whole collection of wigs soon after you begin your journey. The last thing you want is for all of them to look the same; this is a chance for you to go blonde, try out a pink hair colour, and be adventurous with your hair! You can have your wig fairy godmother trying out any look you want!
