MORE ABOUT LACE WIGS

WHAT IS A LACE WIG?

A Lace Wig or a Front Lace Wig is a special type of hair piece or wig in which human hair or synthetic hair is tied by hand to a sheer lace base which goes over the scalp. At EMBRACE YOUR LACE we use 100% human hair.

WHAT IS A FULL LACE WIG?

A Full Lace Wig is capable of being parted anywhere on the scalp. They work great with all hairstyles including wearing the hair back because they create the appearance of a completely natural hairline.

WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR HUMAN HAIR?

At EMBRACE YOUR LACE, all Lace Wigs are made with 100% Human Hair. Some people refer to this as Virgin Hair.

Our Human Hair is 100% unprocessed. This means that no chemical processes have been done to the hair to alter its natural texture or colour.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FULL LACE WIG AND A FRONT LACE WIG?

Full Lace Wigs have a base made entirely of lace and can be pulled into a high ponytail, as opposed to lace front wigs. Full Lace Wigs allow for the most versatility when it comes to styling for all lace wig types. They have a natural hairline and natural looking parting areas throughout the wig.

Front Lace Wigs have lace just at the front of the wig. The remainder of the wig is made out of a less fragile material. Because the lace is at the front of the wig you can part the hair any way you want.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LACE?

Over the years, lace has undergone significant evolution, and now we have HD lace, which is the finest and most undetectable type of lace available. EMBRACE YOUR LACE offers HD lace, which is even more delicate than traditional lace but remains strong if handled with care.

Embrace the lace! Our wig caps are incredibly comfortable and lightweight. They are designed with breathable airspace to keep you feeling fresh and fabulous.

WHO WEARS LACE WIGS?

Anyone can wear a Lace Wig and the reasons for wearing them may differ. From medical conditions that bring about hair loss to protective styles to help with the growth of their natural hair or simply for fashion.

I HAVE A HEAD FULL OF HAIR, CAN I STILL WEAR A LACE WIG?

Yes, all you have to do is braid your hair in small flat cornrows straight back or you can wrap your hair flat back.

WHAT ARE HAIR KNOTS (SINGLE, DOUBLE & BLEACHED KNOTS)?

Let’s start with single knots. Single knots are considered the best method of knotting producing a tiny knot for each individual hand-tied hair. Two or three individual hairs can be single knotted to the lace wig at one time speeding up the process. It's hard to detect, but easily shed.

Double Knots involve knotting lace wig hair twice to produce a double knot which provides a stronger, more robust knot. The knots are slightly more visible under close inspection. It's easy to detect, but not easy to shed.

Bleached Knots helps to make the Lace Wig knots less detectable. The hair will appear as if it is growing from the scalp.

WHAT DOES DENSITY MEAN?

Hair density refers to how many hairs are added to your Lace Wig hair system base.

Low density looks more natural especially with the see through look along the hairlines. You can chose different Lace Wig hair density in different areas of the Lace Wig base.

Most of our Lace Wigs are made with Medium Density (150%), a light density is usually used around the hairline making it more realistic.

Read more about density here.

DO YOUR LACE WIGS HAVE NATURAL HAIRLINES?

All of our Lace Wigs have natural hairlines, which blend into your own.

The individual strands of 100% Human Hair are hand-tied into the lace by our skilled hair professionals. Our technique of double knotting each strand of hair and bleaching give's a more natural appearance at the root of the hair.

Our Full Lace Wigs are free flowing and can be parted anywhere and styled however you like.

HOW TO

HOW DO I MEASURE MY HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE FOR A LACE WIG?

Please view the web page how to measure: Feel free to contact a member of our team with any questions.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT LENGTH TO CHOOSE?

Ultimately, it all comes down to the desired look. You have the option to replicate any of your existing hairstyles or try something new.

You can use the for our dedicated length checker for guidance, click here.

WHAT IS BETTER, GLUE OR TAPE?

Both adhesives and tapes offer great options for attachments of Lace Wigs.

Tape is easier to apply with little to no mess. Because tape is thicker than glue, it might create a slight edge.

Glue can give a longer hold than tape but is messier to handle than tape.

Each option has pros and cons and you should throughly look into the options to decide which is best.

HOW MUCH LACE SHOULD I CUT OFF THE LACE WIG?

Cut all the excess lace in a zig zag shape as close to the hairline as possible leaving little or no lace visible to the eye.

HOW TO ATTACH A LACE WIG WITH GLUE?

1: Do a skin test. If you decide to use glue then do a skin test to determine if you are allergic to the adhesive.

2: Flatten your hair. By creating a flat surface for the Lace Wig to sit on, it will look better. You can braid your hair into corn rows.

3: Put on a wig cap. Wig caps will flatten your hair and help to keep the Lace Wig in place. If you have little or no hair then you can skip this step.

4: Fit the lace wig. Next is time to evaluate how and where you would like the hairline. The aim is to find where the hairline will look most natural.

5: Trim the lace. Once the Lace Wig fits properly, gradually start trimming the excess lace cutting small amounts off at a time.

6. Apply adhesive or tape. When you have created your hairline, apply adhesive (wig tap/liquid lace adhesive) to the hairline to help secure the wig.

7. The finished hairline will look completely natural, as if the hair were actually growing from your head.

HOW TO REMOVE A LACE WIG IF GLUE METHOD WAS USED?

How to Remove the Full Lace Wig (glue method removal)

1. Put all of the hair up into a ponytail to protect it from the glue.

2. Apply the Lace Wig adhesive remover to the adhesive or tape around the hairline perimeter.

3. Rub the remover along your hairline where the lace meets the adhesive. Continue rubbing gently until the lace lifts away from your scalp.

4. Slowly remove the Lace Wig, taking your time so it is not pulled.

5. After you have removed the Lace Wig, it is recommeded to wash it and gently remove any glue residue that may be left.

6. Allow the Lace Wig to dry naturally.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY LACE WIG?

Looking after your Lace Wig is not difficult however, it does require routine maintenance for lasting results.

We recommend cleaning your Lace Wig no more than once a month.

Follow these instructions to care and optimise the lifetime and wear of your Lace Wig.

WIG STAND

When you are not wearing your Lace Wig, always leave it on a wig stand to maintain its shape.

SERUMS FOR MOISTURE

Use serums to keep the hair moisturised. You must maintain the hairs healthy glow and soft texture by keeping the Lace Wig well moisturised especially if you have chosen a lighter colour.

HEAT PROTECTANT

Use heat protector serums or sprays before using straighteners, curling wands, blow dryers and other heat appliances.

We advise letting your Lace Wig air dry or at least on a cool setting if you need to blow dry. Heat from the blow dryer will damage and spilt the knots and cause shedding.

STYLING

In order to style your Lace Wig we recommend wetting the hair using a water spray bottle and then using a serum and/or a hair lotion straight away so that the hair does not dry and tangle.

CLEANSING AND CONDITIONING

We advise co-washing ( using conditioner only ) the Lace Wig every two - three weeks with conditioner only due to the build up of product used on the hair eg. oil or serum.

Shampoo and condition the Lace Wig once a month using a sulphate free shampoo.

For best results, wash the Lace Wig in a straight line from the crown to the tip. Apply the shampoo/conditioner gently in a downwards motion. Top to bottom

DRYING THE LACE WIG

Two common ways of drying your Lace Wig is through air drying or using a hairdryer on a cool setting.

PROTECT YOUR HAIR AT BEDTIME

Ideally it is best not to sleep with your lace wig on your head. If your Lace Wig cannot be removed due to the way it has been fitted or if you simply prefer to keep it on at night, always comb your wig before you sleep. If it is feeling a bit dry, apply some serum.

If you can wrap your lace wig up and use a clip to secure it quite high on your head this will prevent the hair fro rubbing whilst you are sleeping. Silk head scarfs and silk pillow cases are essential to ensure your Lace Wig is protected. The friction of the hair rubbing against standard cotton pillow cases can use dryness, shedding and tangling.

GROOMING AND MAINTENENCE

Daily grooming is best carried out using a wide tooth comb. These styling tools are gentle on the hair causing less friction on the Lace Wig hair knots, reducing shedding.

Detangle hair gently and use light combing. Correct product usage will prolong the Lace Wigs life with colour protection products along with regular deep conditioning essential.

HOW DO I MINIMISE SHEDDING AND TANGLING?

All Lace Wigs, will lose hair. Shedding is caused by excessive combing / brushing.

Having two Lace Wigs is recommended in the event one lace wig needs to be repaired.

HOW TO PREVENT SHEDDING?

We recommend using a wide tooth comb on the Lace Wig starting from the bottom and working your way up gently in small sections at a time.

When you purchase a Lace Wig from EMBRACE YOUR LACE, you will receive a hair care guide.

Cleansing and Conditioning your Lace Wig

We recommend taking your Lace Wig off your head to wash it. Ensure the hair has been combed through thoroughly and it is smooth before you start to wash the Lace Wig to avoid tangling.

We advise co-washing the Lace Wig every two - three weeks with conditioner only due to the build up of product used on the hair eg. oil or serum. Do not apply conditioner to the hair root as it may loosen the knots.

We advise shampooing and conditioning the Lace Wig once a month, using a sulphate free shampoo.

Wash the Lace Wig in a straight line from the crown to the tip. Apply the shampoo/conditioner gently in a downwards motion. Top to bottom tin he same direction as the cuticle hair strands that are aligned on the cap as opposed to shaking the Lace Wig about in a bucket as this will cause excessive tangling.
